Statues.com honors Anna May Wong for her trailblazing film career that transformed her into a celebrated Chinese American movie star.
The SculptHER™ Collection at Statues.com now includes Wong for her pioneering work in film. She overcame long-standing racial prejudices in Hollywood and starred in more than 60 films.
Anna May Wong became the first Chinese American film star in Hollywood and earned a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame as the first Asian American woman recognized there. She achieved fame as an actress and gained international recognition throughout her career.
In 2022, the U.S. Mint celebrated Wong’s tremendous contributions to cinema by creating more than 300 million Wong Quarters. As the first Asian American on U.S. currency, she made history once again. The American Women Quarters Program honors five extraordinary women each year from 2022 through 2025, and Wong’s quarter ranked among the first released.
Her groundbreaking work in film redefined how Hollywood portrayed Asian characters and paved the way for future generations of actors seeking meaningful representation on screen.
