Grandfather Fishing
About this project
A Quiet Fishing Moment Shared Across Generations
A life-size sculpture of a grandfather and grandson created in white bonded marble for the East Texas Medical Center.
Grandfather Fishing preserves a gentle moment of companionship, patience and shared experience between two generations.
The life-size composition uses fishing as a familiar setting for human connection. Rather than presenting a formal portrait, the sculpture focuses on the relationship between the figures and the quiet exchange that takes place when time is shared.
Created in white bonded marble, the sculpture has a calm, unified surface that emphasizes gesture, posture and the visual connection between grandfather and grandson. The material is cast from a mold using marble aggregate and a binding medium.
Within a healthcare environment, the familiar family scene offers visitors a moment of warmth, memory and reflection.
Public sculpture can contribute to a space without relying on monumental scale. A relatable narrative, thoughtful placement and clear human gesture can create an artwork that visitors understand immediately and remember personally.
